DELHI — Douglas H. Sheppard died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.

Born in Richland Parish, La., Mr. Sheppard was a resident of Delhi. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the police jury and as a farmer. He was a member of Newton Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nellie W. Sheppard; two sons, Lynn Sheppard of Henderson, Texas, and Jimmy Sheppard of Tallulah; a daughter, Sherry Walker of Tallulah; two half-brothers, Huey Walters of Vicksburg and Dewey Walters of Natchez; a sister, Lois Allen of Delhi; three grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Newton Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow at Newton Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Newton Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Matt York, Ray York, Claude Hosea, Blanchard Monroe, Billy Ray Sikes, Randy Fryer, Ronnie Garrett, Greenlee Copes, Sonny Hosea and Robert Dale Wallace.
