Mrs. McDowell Dies; Leaves 67 Survivors
Mrs. Louis McDowell, 84, who had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Pearl Chesser of 1526 W. 3rd St., Davenport, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday in Mercy Hospital, after an extended illness.
The former Julie Wheeler was born in Ava, Mo. She was married there to Henry Sanders in 1894. he died in 1949. She was later married to Mr. McDowell in Beloit, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1957.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Chesser, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dora Collins, and Mrs. Mary Boehl, both of Bettendorf, and Mrs.Leona Levan, Ava, Mo.; five sons, Burl Sanders, Ava, Raymond Sanders, California, Earl Sanders Davenport, and Luther and Oscar, both of Ottumwa; 43 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery
Friends may call at the mortuary after noon Saturday.

Mrs. Julia Sanders Dies in Iowa May 12
Funeral service were conducted Monday, May 16 in Davenport, Iowa, for Mrs. Julia Ellen Sanders 83, who died Thursday, May 12 in Mercy Hospital in Davenport.
Mrs. Sanders, the daughter of Bob and Mary Jane Wheeler, was born and reared in the Mt. Tabor community west of Ava. She was married to Henry Sanders in 1891 and 13 children were born to this union. They lived in the Arno and West Liberty communities.
The deceased had made her home in Iowa during the past 25 years and during the last four years she lived in Davenport with a daughter, Pearl Chesser.
She was a member of the Holtness Church in Ava.
Survivors are Four daughters, Dora Collins and Pearl Chesser, Davenport; Mary Bochl, Bettendorf, and Leora Sanders, Ava, four sons, Oscar Sanders, Davenport; Luther Sanders, Ottumwa, Iowa; Raymond Sanders, Sanger, Calif., and Burl Sanders, Ava. Thirty-five grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also survive.
Three daughters, one son, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sanders was the aunt of Jimmy Hoffman, Clark Wheeler, Carrie Harper and Eva Hartley, who all live in the Ava community.
