Daughter of Adam Tidmore and Elizabeth "Betsie" Rebecca (Looper) Tidmore. She married James Marion Griffith in Alabama.

Margaret was born in either Pickens Co., South Carolina or St. Clair Co., Alabama. The family moved from S.C. to Alabama between 1830 and 1835 and there are conflicting records if she was born right before they left or right after they arrived. At this time it is not confirmed which state she was born in, needs more research.

OBITUARY: GRIFFITH, Thursday July 31, 1924
Mrs. Margaret Jane Griffith, aged 89 died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Caddel, in the Ozark community Sunday afternoon. The deceased is survived by eight children. She had been deaf and dumb since the age of three years. The body was shipped to Aubrey, Texas Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Margaret Griffith, aged 96 years, died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Caddel, after a lingering illness. She is survived by a large number of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The remains were taken to her old home in Denton Co. Texas, for interment, after funeral services at the residence west of town.

Margaret was deaf and dumb not retarded, something about her swimming in pond a lot and had ear problems at about age 3. They did sign language with her. She was deaf from the age of 7. At that time, quinine was used to treat fevers and excess doses caused deafness. Her body was returned to Aubrey but the stone was never completed.
