John Wesley Booker, age 77, died at the Stuttgart Regional Medical Center on Friday, February 4, 2005. A son of the late A. K. Booker and the late Eva King Booker, John was born in Blackton, Arkansas on August 13, 1927. He was united in marriage to Joyce Deaton on June 29, 1948 in the Park Grove Community. John was life long resident of Monroe County, a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a World War II United States Army Veteran and a retired farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking, especially building rocky horses for children, cabinets, quilt racks and childrens tables and chairs. John leaves a legacy of wonderful memories to his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Deaton Booker Two sons, Michael D. Booker & wife Kay of Clarendon John R. Booker & wife Sherri of DesArc One daughter, Sandra R. Booker of Clarendon, Three grandchildren: Russell Booker, Christopher Booker & Ann Jessup. Two great-grandchildren, Logan Jessup & Jackson Jessup John was preceded in death by his parents, A. K. and Eva Booker, brother, Hilton Booker and sisters, Josephine Broom, Francis Ponder and Alma Alverson. Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 6, 2005 at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church near Clarendon with Bro. Ralph Ruffin, Bro. Billy Booth and Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery by bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Clarendon. Pallbearers are Jimmy Kelly, Larry Perkins, Barry Miller, Buster Turner, Danny Jones and Mike Sayger. Honorary pallbearers are John Woods, C. J. Turner and Herbert Shaw, Jr.
