Last Rites Held For Henry Sanders
Funeral services for Henry Sanders, 73, were conducted Tesday afternoon, May 11, at the Mt. Tabor church by Rev. J. W. Silvey of Ava, with burial in the cemetery there under direction of the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
Henry Sanders died Sunday, May 9, 1948, at the home of his son, Earl Sanders. He was born Sept. 29, 1874.
He was married to Julie Wheeler in 1897, and to this union was born 13 children, six sons and seven daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Julie, and five sons, Oscar, Burl, Luther, Earl and Raymond Sanders, all of Ava; four daughters, Mrs. Elona Levan of Ava, Mrs. Marl Bahel and Mrs. Pearl Chessar of Davenport, Iowa, and Mrs. Dora Cora Collins of Ottumwa, Iowa. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mitchell and Staten Sanders, of California, and a sister, Mandy Hartley.
He was preceded in death by a son, Oden, and three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Holman, Mrs. Della Mae Shelton and Mrs. Ola Davis, one half brother, Sever Sanders, and a half sister, Katherine Adams.
