Kenneth Michael "Mike" McKay 61 of Ontonagon, Michigan, passed away March 29, 2008 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.
He was born on October 27, 1946, in Hartford, Connecticut to Kenneth M. McKay, Jr. and Viola E. Heikkinen.
Kenneth McKay served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at the White Pine Mine, attended Gogebic Community College receiving his Associates Degree in accounting. Most recently he was employed at the Ojibwa Casino and Resort.
On August 15, 1992, Mike McKay was united in marriage to Wanda Giesau in Ontonagon, Michigan. Mike was an avid bowler, a member of the Press Box Bowling Team, loved to play cards, do puzzles and shared his wife's love of cats. Mike will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and generous nature. He was an inspiration and source of strength for his family during his courageous battle with cancer.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Wanda, son Justin (Sarah) McKay, daughters Lisa (Cameron) Bledsoe and Jessica (Brandon) Dompier, mother Viola Heikkinen, brothers Richard (Sue) McKay and William McKay, sisters Marcia Velmer, Bonnie (Kenneth) Korttila and Diane (Timothy) Mayo, 8 grandchildren Bud, Chance, Logan and Morgan Bledsoe, Kylie, Addison and Brooklyn Dompier and Lucas McKay and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth M. McKay, Jr., step-father Ronald W. Heikkinen and brother Ronald I. Heikkinen.
