Arch was the second child of Marion Archibald Sr. and Cloe "Donoho" Mordecai and was born in Denton, TX. His family moved to Chillicothe, TX in 1920. He attended Centerpoint School & Kings High School. He excelled in basketball and football. He never smoked. Arch enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 and was stationed in Ogden, Utah, where he met and married (1) Dora Pearl Adams. She died in 1998 and he married (2) Patricia Ann Shimp in 1999.
After he was discharged, he went to Fort Worth, TX, where he was employed by American Airlines. They later offered him employment in Tulsa, OK and he worked for them many years and retired as a Supervisor. He and Dora Pearl were the parents of three children. One son, Marion Arch, III "Mickey", died in 1979 at the age of 26 from a Cerebral Aneurysm. Their daughters, Rose Ann and Jane, both live in Tulsa, OK.

COLLINSVILLE - M.A. Mordecai Jr., 89 of Collinsville passed away on July 24, 2009 in Whitesboro. He was born on Nov. 25, 1919 in Denton to Marian Arch and Cloe (Donoho) Mordecai Sr. He was married to Dora Pearl Adams for 57 years. She preceded him in death in 1998. He married Patricia Shimp on Jan. 22, 1999. He was retired from American Airlines where he an instrumentation technician for 40 years. During that time, he served with the Ideas in Action group for five years. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a World War II veteran, where he served in the Army Air Force.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey with Rev. Dan Eakin officiating.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of Collinsville; daughters, Rose Ann Marshall and Jana Hewitt and husband Larry of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Melissa and husband Dave Johnson, Kyle Hipfner of Tulsa, Okla., and Andrea Pautsch of Raleigh, N.C.; great-grandchild, Davis Marshall Johnson of Tulsa, Okla. He is also survived by one brother, James Mordecai of Ft. Worth; sisters, Priscilla and husband Donald Bennett and Linda Jordan of Bono, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one son, M.A. Mordecai III, brothers, Grady Mordecai, J.T. Mordecai and Leon Mordecai and one sister, Wanda Hughes.
Services are under the direction of Huff/Slay Funeral Home, Pilot Point.
