Hartsill R. Burchfield, 78, Lenexa, KS, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Hart was born December 31, 1930, in Wooster, AR the son of John and Mary Wofford Burchfield. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1980. Hart then worked as an independent insurance agent for 18 years retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Lenexa Baptist Church, the Military Officers Association of America, Sunflower Chapter. Hart is survived by his wife of 53 years, Grace McCoy Burchfield, of the home, son, Raymond (Donna) Burchfield, Shawnee, KS, daughter, Margaret (Greg) Wessel, Vashon, WA, four brothers, Rudolph Burchfield, St. Louis, MO, Wendell Burchfield, St. Charles, MO, James Burchfield, Sikeston, MO, Harold Burchfield, Corpus Christi, TX, three sisters, Fayrene Cunningham, Wellington, FL, Wanda Dye, Blytheville, AR, Patsy Oswalt, Bragg City, MO, and 5 grandchildren, Brian (Libby) Burchfield, Durham, NC, David Burchfield, Kansas City, MO, Eric Olson, Stephen Trudel and Marie Trudel all of Vashon, WA. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3 at the Lenexa Baptist Church, 15320 W. 87th St., Lenexa, KS where friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Burial in the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family suggested memorial contributions to the Church.
