Mary K. attended Kerrick Elementary School in Pleasure Ridge Park and graduated from Louisville Girls High School where she had played girl's field hockey. Her love for God was learned early and she taught Sunday school as a youth. She met Norbert Herman Miller while attending North Central College in Naperville, IL. where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1937. They married in Louisville, Kentucky May 10, 1939 at Trinity Evangelical Church. Mary K. was a teacher in Kentucky and (later) in Wisconsin and a missionary at Red Bird Mission, Beverly, Kentucky for two years before her marriage to Norbert.
Mary K. was active in all of the E.U.B. or United Methodist churches her husband served as a minister. She was a member of the choir, and often sang solos in church and at funerals. She an excellent pianist. She organized and led children's mission groups and children's choirs. She was a member of the Women's Society group even into her 90s. Her hobbies included reading the Bible, painting in oils and acrylics, cooking, preserving food, sewing, and vegetable and flower gardening.
Mary K. was the mother of 8 children: Mary Lydia, Faith, Ruth, Norbert, Luke, Martha, Susan, and Esther.
