Hugh Reuben Bomar, 95, of 305 N Brewer St, retired employee of the L&N Railroad, died around 10 AM Saturday at Jackson Madison County Hospital, Jackson.

Services will be at 10 AM Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home with the Rev Charles Trevathan of Palestine United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers were Roland, Jimmy, Bryan and David Parkhill and David Hugh and Bernie Bomar.

Bomar was born May 7, 1891, in Henry County, son of the late James and Lucy Myrtle Wright Bomar. His first wife, the former Honor Lyde Mitchum, died Jan 25, 1952. He later married the former May Lampley, who preceded him in death April 29, 1972.

He was a 75-year member of Palestine United Methodist Church and a member of the Elks Lodge, Paris Lodge 108, Free and Accepted Mason, Paris Council 129 and Paris Commandery 16.

Surviving are two sons: David Ewing Bomar of Jackson and Marshall Wendell Bomar of Pensacola, FL; a sister, Merle Bomar Peebles of Nashville; two brothers: C I "Irvine" and Clyde Edward Bomar, both of Paris; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren' a step-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his father Aug 16, 1936; his mother Aug 2, 1938; two daughters: Ada Laverne Bomar in infancy and Lucy Rose Bomar Parkhill Jan 7, 1974; five sons: Richard Hugh, Wayne Ray and Mitchum Alexander Bomar in infancy, Bernard Boyd Bomar June 3, 1981, and James Albert Bomar March 29, 1975; four sisters: Docia Hope Bomar Crutchfield Dec 29, 1957, Johnie Winford "Winnie" Bomar June 18, 1963, Mattie Ruth Bomar Perkins Bickford Jan 10, 1978, and Bessie Ray Bomar Hall March 28, 1968; four brothers: Earl Earnest Bomar June 28, 1961, Lucian J Bomar Aug 6, 1970, Bernard H Bomar Dec 5, 1963 and Halbert Bomar Oct 23, 1982; a grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
