"The Idaho Statesman", Wednesday, October 3, 1984: Mountain Home--Velma Irene Barker, 59, of 318 N. 4th West, Mountain Home, died Tuesday, October 2, 1984, in a Mountain Home hospital of natural causes.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 6, at the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain Home. Rev. John Howell of the Church of God Seventh Day, Meridian, will officiate under the direction of Humphreys Funeral Home, Mountain Home.
Mrs. Barker, a homemaker, was born February 20, 1925, in Kimball County, Nebraska; a daughter of Chester L. and Elsie Mae Shrader Gray. The family moved to the Boise Valley where she attended schools at Apple Valley and Parma. She married George E. Barker on December 24, 1943, at Middleton. They lived in Boise for 20 years before moving to Mountain Home in 1972.
Survivors include her husband, George of Mountain Home; a son, Gary L. in Nevada; a daughter, Linda Palmer of Kuna; a brother, Walter L. Gray of Caldwell; three sisters, Mildred Barker of Caldwell, Helen Cress of Eugene, Oregon, and Myrtle Grubb of Blackfoot; and seven grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, 151 E. Bannock St., Boise, 83712. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m., & Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at Humpherys Funeral Home.
