Born Sept. 4, 1918, in Tennessee, Ill., to Earl and Bessie Wells Rigg, he married Sarabelle Brown on April 9, 1939, in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Russell (and Cheryl) of Branson, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
He worked in special attachments at Caterpillar Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 1974.
A World War II Navy veteran, he served in the Mediterranean.
He was a member of the First Christian Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home. The Rev. Gene Danner will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the memorial home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Sunset Manor.
