Children - Elizabeth Nish, Agnes Nish, Robert Nish, Thomas John Nish, Isabella Nish, Malcolm William Nish, Mary Ellen Nish, David Nish, Margaret Nish, Euphmia Nish, Ida Martha Nish, Nephi Nish, Alma Wilson Nish, Joseph Smith Nish, Maud Ann Nish
Sketch - Agnes was born in Scotland in 1837. As a young woman she and her sweetheart, Robert Nish, were on their way to buy some candy when they stopped at a street meeting and listened to the Elders preaching. They were interested and were later baptized, much against their parents wishes.
Agnes and Robert were married on board the ship "Charles Buck" on January 16, 1855 with Richard Ballantyne performing the ceremony. Robert often said he married her to save cabin fare. The ship sailed the net day for America.
They arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in September, 1855 and settled in Cedar City, Utah for a time. They also lived in Portage, Box Elder County; Clarkston. Cache County; and finally several places in Idaho, the last place, Franklin, Idaho.
Agnes was a quiet person but said she could never get a word in edgewise because her husband did all the talking. He was the "life of the party." A very cheerful person who loved to call square dances.
Agnes was the mother of fifteen children, the last one was born when she was about fifty years of age. Agnes passed away on January 1919 at the home of her daughter in Franklin, Idaho. Robert died in October, 1919 also in Franklin, Idaho.
