Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Wright & Ferguson Chapel. Interment was made in Briarhill Cemetery, Florence. Officiating ministers were the Rev. Joseph N. Triplett, Rev. Wilbur B. Webb and Dr. James C. Taylor.
Survivors are his wife, the former Essie Edwards and a number of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers wre Hurst L. Webb, Horace W. Webb, Sheldon M. Webb, Thompson B. Webb Jr., J. Freeman Webb and T. Miller Dickson Sr.
Webb was a retired educator, native of Florence and the Briarhill community in Rankin County.
He received his B.A. degree from Mississippi College in 1910, his master degree from the University of Chicago in 1923 and his Ph.D. from Peabody College in 1931.
He formerly served as superintent of public school in Mississippi, Arkansas and South Carolina and for six years served as a professor at Mercer University, Macon, Ga.
Webb organized the department of education at Anderson College in South Carolina. He formerly owend and operated a business college in Little Rock, Ark. In recent years he was associated with Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. retiring in 1957.
He was a member and former sunday school teacher of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. In Little Rock, Ark., he served as chairman of the board of deacons of Second Avenue Baptist Church.
