FORT KENT - Irene (Theriault) Babin, 89, died Jan. 22, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence. She was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Octave and Delia (Caron) Theriault. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Auxiliaries, Columbettes, RSVP, Fort Kent Senior Club and Ladies of St. Ann. Mom gave us faith, character and strength. She taught us never to quit and we have kept that with us all our lives and we love her very much. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by five children, Joan Dumais and Norman Babin of Fort Kent, Rodney Babin of Leominister, Mass., Bernette Babin and Claudette Babin, both of Fort Kent; one brother, Ernest Theriault of Fort Kent; two sisters-in-law, Cora Caron and Blanche Babin, both of Fort Kent; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Eddie Babin in 1975; and five brothers, Rosaire, Romeo, Patrick, Oscar and Hampy Theriault. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Burial will be May 11 in the parish cemetery.
