Juanita Watkins Ellsworth, 89, of Vernal passed away Jan. 14.

She was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Vernal to Lorenzo and Jennie Kolb Watkins. She came from a large family of nine girls and two boys. Six sisters and one brother are still living. Her family stayed close through the years and shared a lot of fun memories and love.

She married Lester Ellsworth on Oct. 18, 1937; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 28, 1940. Lester passed away on Feb. 4, 1988.

Juanita was a homemaker and a member of the LDS Church. She attended Davis 1st Ward, Davis 4th Ward and Bonanza Branch. She was a Visiting Teacher from 1937 to 1999, a Relief Society President, First Counselor, Secretary for the Uintah Stake YWMIA, worked in the Library and served a Stake Mission. Juanita loved to quilt; with her talent she made several beautiful quilts.

Juanita is survived by two daughters, Vicke (LaVor) Southam and Joan (George) Christensen; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a granddaughter, Shelly Southam.

Funeral services were held Jan. 17 at the Davis 4th Ward Chapel.

Interment was at the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary
