AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Lillian Lewis Lansdell McElmurray entered into rest Wednesday morning, January 28, 2009.

A graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park, Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Her grandson, Reverend Christopher Matthew McElmurray and nephew, Reverend Rinaldo Addison Lansdell Walker will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

Mrs. McElmurray, born May 21 1911, was a native of Hephzibah, Georgia, the daughter of the late Dr. Rinaldo Addison Lansdell and Mrs. Ruth Kilpatrick Lansdell.

Mrs. McElmurray graduated from Hephzibah High School, Junior College of Augusta, and Georgia State Teachers College. She was an elementary school teacher for 37 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma (teachers' honor society), Historic Augusta, National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Georgia Historical Trust, Richmond County Historical Society, Charter Member of Augusta Genealogical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Bonnie Ray Missionary Circle, and former member of Beech Island Historical Society.

Mrs. McElmurray was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Swain McElmurray, Sr., her daughter, Ruth Kilpatrick McElmurray Owen, and her siblings Cyrus Hudson Lansdell, Anna Lansdell Walker, Ruth Lansdell Henderson, Emily Lansdell Weatherspoon, and Joseph Truett Lansdell.

Mrs. McElmurray is survived by her brother, Rinaldo Addison Lansdell, Jr.; her son, Ben Swain McElmurray, Jr.; her son-in-law, Ralph Glen Owen, Sr.; and her niece, Jane Henderson Barrett. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Jayne McElmurray Kirkpatrick, Ben Swain McElmurray, III, Joseph Lansdell McElmurray, Christopher Matthew McElmurray, Ralph Glen Owen, Jr., Jesse Weatherspoon Owen, Lillian Owen Magruder, and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her great nephews William White Barrett, Jr. and Henry Russell Barrett and great nieces, Ruth Barrett Little and Jane Barrett Dowd. Pallbearers will be Ben Swain McElmurray III, Ralph Glen Owen, Jr, Joseph Lansdell McElmurray, Jesse Weatherspoon Owen, William White Barrett, and Henry Russell Barrett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Historic Augusta,
