Funeral services for Miss Madge Thelma Ellzey, 81, were held
Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, at 2 p.m.
Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Rev. Troy Wheeler
officiated the services.

Miss Ellzey passed away at the Evangeline Nursing Home in
Natchitoches, on Monday, Oct. 16.

She is survived by one son, John Ellzey of Many; two brothers,
Ralph W. Ellzey of Natchitoches, and Orvis Ellzey of Marthaville;
one sister, Opal Brown of Pleasant Hill; two grandchildren, Eric,
and Brian Ellzey of Natchitoches; and a host of nieces and
nephews.

Miss Ellzey was born to Amburg and Cora Addison Ellzey,
September 7, 1908, in Mt. Carmel. She taught school in Sabine
Parish for 33 years. During those years, Miss Ellzey touched many
lives. She loved each and every one of her students, and called
them her own.

Miss Ellzey was a member of the Cold Water Baptist Church in
Hagewood, where she served faithfully, until she entered a
nursing home in Natchitoches, several years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clifton
Ellzey, and Cyril Ellzey; and one sister, Melba Ellzey
Callicoatte.

Pallbearers were O. W. Ellzey Jr., David Ellzey, Stan Russell,
Grover Dowden Jr., Victor Ellzey, and Ned Ellzey.
