73, of Aurora died Feb. 24. Mr. Ashley was born in Brooks County, Ga. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Ashley retired from the Air Force in 1971 after 34 years of service. He was active with the Aurora Chamber of Commerce for 15 years following his retirement from the military and served as the chairman of the chamber's Military Affairs Appreciation Day. He retired a second time from his position of vice president of Aurora National Bank. Mr. Ashley received numerous honors for his service in the military and within the Aurora community. He is survived by his wife, Gwen; one son, Charles of Kettering, Ohio; one daughter, Virginia Brittany Schoonover of Fort Collins; one sister, Ellen Tyler of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.
