Ralph A. Berkheimer, 87, of York, formerly of Spring Grove, died at 7:17 a.m. Thursday at York Hospital. He was the husband of Bernice (Myers) Berkheimer, to whom he was married for 65 years.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sauter-Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. Burial will be in Trinity (Roth's) Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Berkheimer was born Nov. 27, 1911, in Paradise Township. He was the son of the late Albert and Elsie (Altland) Berkheimer.
He was an inspector for York International, retiring in 1974 after 38 years of service; he was an agent for Paradise Insurance Co. in Hanover for over 50 years, retiring in May from the Board of Directors. He was a member of Trinity (Roth's) United Church of Christ, Spring Grove RD 4 and Viking Athletic Association, York; he was a graduate of Gettysburg High School and Gettysburg College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Berkheimer also is survived by a daughter, Susan A. Downing of Concordville, Delaware County.
Officiating at the service will be his interim pastor, the Rev. Dr. Gerald I. Gingrich.
