Enlisted Honey Grove, Texas 10 May 1861, Private Co. C. Reg. Stevens, Brigade, Poligeac, Div. Mertons, Corps: Kirby, Army: Trans Miss.
Went out as Texas Ranger on 10 May 1861, served from May until Oct 1861, transferred to Indian Territory, served under General Pike until 1 Jan 1862, transferred to Missouri and served under General Price 2 months, transferred back to Ark. Dismounted and served under General Hindman until after the Prairie Grove fight, then transferred to Louisiana and served under General Poligmac until the close of war.Was in the following named battles: New Tonia Mo., Prairie Groan Ark., Pleasant Hill, Mansfield and Yellow Bayou La., Also the 70 day fight up the Red River. Ordered to Richmond, Tx. and discharged. Recorded 1 Nov 1906 UCV List W. T. Shard.
