EASLEY, Sept. 1 Mrs. Eva Burgess, 37, wife of Dr. J. M. Burgess, 101 Fifth Street, died at a Greenville hospital at 10:15 last evening after a brief illness. Mrs. Burgess was a native of Greenville county and had made her home there until eight years ago when she came to Easley. She was a daughter of the late Tom Turner and Mr. Avie LaFoy Turner. she was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Greenville. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Edith Burgess and an infant daughter; one son, Pvt. Thomas B. Scruggs; her mother, Mrs. Avie turner; seven brothers and five sisters, J. B., B. W., W. O., J. E., T. R., and J. D. Turner, Mrs. Earnest Buckner, Mrs. H. C. Leroy and Miss Marie Turner, and the following step-sons and daughters, Leo, Henry, Thamer, Mildredge, and Singleton Burgess, Mrs. Irene Black, and Mrs. Millie Grant. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. H. C. Leroy. Rev. F. S. Childress, Rev. D. A. Martin, and Rev. Prue Kelly officiating. Internment will be made in the church cemetery. The following will assemble at the church at 2:50 Saturday afternoon to compose the escort of honor; J. M. Lindsey, Dr. J. W. Potts, L. B. O'Dell, J. E. Folger, Joe Burgess, W. A. Robinson, Bob Lesley, Marvin Painter, D. LaFoy, Hayward Harris, Dr. J. H. Cutchins, George Greer, Dr. R. E. Lewis, Robert Pickens and Willie Barr. The body is at the home of her sister, Mrs. H. C. Leroy.
