Jesse Gibson Jr., Garnett was shot accidentally Nov. 25, while squirrel hunting 12 miles west of Garnett. He died at Ottawa Hospital, Saturday. He was hunting with Roy and John Marmon and Gibson was assisting Johnny to climb a tree, using the butt of the gun to put his foot on. The gun somehow discharged, the bullet striking Gibson's stomach, liver and intestine. He was a veteran of WW11, serving in Field Artillery 35th Div., and was overseas with General Pattons 3rd Army in Europe. He lived at south end of Garnett with wife, former Blanche Dart, and 3 daughters, Jacqueline 4, Phyllis 2, and Karen 2 months. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Gibson, born July 5, 1918, and died Nov. 27, age 30 years, 4 months, 22 days. Born at Garnett, Ks. Funeral at Farris Chapel, December 1 and burial in Garnett cemetery.
