Fannie A. Gill married John H. Setser in 1873. John died young, and Fannie remarried. She married Calvin Luther Gill in 1885 after the death of his first wife Susan Bodiford. By 1910, Fannie and Calvin had had four children of their own--William Luther, Robert Hardy, Susan Jesse, and Ellen F. Gill--and cared for two grandchildren. Calvin's children from his first marriage--Hattie, Sarah, Anna, and twins Flora and Florence--were grown by then.

In 1900, they lived in Navarro County, TX, where Calvin farmed. By 1910, the family had moved to Cleveland Co., OK, where Calvin and his older children farmed. After Calvin's death in 1914, Fannie lived with her son Luke, with other family members living nearby.

Fannie was born Frances A. McGlohen. Her parents were James Allen McGlohen (1820-1863), who died in Maryland during the Civil War, and Eliza Finney Clarke (1819-1897), both of Georgia, who married in 1846.
