Creston - Earl R. Bigler, 91, East Easton Road, died this morning, Jan. 29, at Dillon Care Center in West Salem.
Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home, Creston, with the Rev. John Cross officiating. Burial will be at Jackson Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born in Pleasant View W. Va. in 1895 to Emil and Idabelle Meeker Bigler. He married Dessie McClintoc on Jan 20, 1923. She died Nov. 28, 1959.
On Jan 31, 1962 he married Alice Schmerich, who preceded him in death.
He had been a farmer most of his life and had lived in Canaan Township since 1925.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. George R. (Dorothy) Smith of Creston; six stepchildren, William and Leonard Schemrich, both of Creston, Charles and Carol, both of Cleveland, Laura Fisher of Akron and Marilyn of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four half-sisters, Ethel Evans of Seville, Gertrude Helms of Rittman, Irenen Lendon of Peoria, Ariz and Inez Lendon of Phoenix, Ariz; and two half-brothers, Emanuel Bigler of Marietta and Harold of Rittman.
An infant daughter died in 1927, two half-sisters, Viola Baker and Hilda Sprowl, and a half-brother, Eugene Bigler, died previously.
