Through his efforts a small church was built in Sylvania,which is still in operation today which is now the town of Highwater, Licking County, Ohio. He was marred for a third time to Elma Cadwalader who out lived him by thiry years. His son James Bruen Howell was a U.S. Senator from Iowa.
