Anetta Catherine "Nettie/Nett" Armentrout was born 01 MAR 1861, the daughter of Michael J. Armentrout and Elizabeth Wolfe. Anetta had one sibling: Jacob Lafayette Armentrout. She also had seven half-siblings: Mary E. Armentrout, James Michael Armentrout, George Armentrout, John "Dallas" Armentrout, Sarah "Jane" Armentrout, Chapman "Bruce" Armentrout and Emma Robinson "Emity" Armentrout.

Anetta married James Joseph Matheney 27 OCT 1881, Alleghany County, Virginia. They had nine children: Lettie Matheney, Virginia Lee Matheney, Samuel Robert Matheney, Charles E. Matheney, Emma Matheney, George W. Matheney, James Edward Matheney, Arden Roy Matheney and Nelle J. Matheney.
