Joseph Claude Prather was born on January 28, 1888, in Cottage Grove, Oregon, his father, Joseph, was 31 and his mother, Dora, was 24. He married Clara Augusta Gutknecht on November 23, 1918, in New York. They had one child during their marriage. He died on December 20, 1972, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 84, and was buried in Texas.


Services Slated
Graveside services for Joseph C. Prather, 84, of No. 96 Lighthall, Roswell, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Fort Bliss, Texas. A military chaplain will officiate.
LaGrone Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements here.
Mr. Prather died Wednesday in the Veterans Hospital, Albuquerque.
Born Jan. 28, 1888 in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Joe Prather and Dora Sessom, He was a veteran of WWI and member of the Church of God, Lubbuck, Texas.
His wife, the former Clara Gutknecht, preceeded him in death in 1970. A retired sanitary engineer, he had resided in Roswell one year.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs Jodi Corrie of Roswell; one brother Robert Prather, San Benito, Texas; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
