Along with his twin brother, Harry S. Dunn, Horace followed his older brother, Frank L. The company went on to own and operate up to 30 stores, primarily in the city of Wichita, but also in Augusta, Mulvane, Cheney and Newton (all in Kansas), as well as being involved in related businesses.

With his wife, Susie, Horace supported the wife and son, Estelle McFadden Dunn and Seldon C. Dunn, of his son, Lewis H. Dunn, after Lewis abandoned the family.

Seldon went on to become a Navy Flight Surgeon, trained in the first class of Aerospace Medicine with the seven Mercury astronauts, and led the medical debriefing team for LtCol. John Glenn, Jr, USMC after his three orbits of the earth on 20 Feb 1962. The US Navy certified Seldon as a Space Flight Surgeon trained and specializing in medicine for astronauts.
