Lita Taysom Dies in Idaho
Lita Louise Taysom, 76, a former Afton resident, died Friday Dec 5, 1969 at the Bingham County Nursing Home in Blackfoot, Idaho from a stroke.
Funeral services were held Dec 10 at the Sandberg-Hill Funeral Chapel in Blackfoot, with A.R. Summers conducting. Interment was in the Afton Cemetery after graveside services were conducted by Bp Noel Allred of the Afton Third Ward.
Mrs Taysom was born June 6, 1893 in Oakley Idaho, the daughter of Aaron and Caroline Cheney McBride. In 1916 in the Salt Lake Temple she married Gilbert Taysom, who became the first Bishop of the Afton South Ward when it was organized. He also was Bishop of the Kemmerer ward and served as Lincoln County Treasurer. He died in 1921.
Before retirement Mrs Taysom had worked for the J.C. Penny Co. as a practical nurse, a seamstress and bookkeeper.
In her younger years she had been active in the Relief Society.
She is survived by two sons, Howard Taysom, Blackfoot; and C. M. Taysom, Ogden, Utah. Six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren survive; One daughter Caroline preceded her in death in infancy.
