Barrett, 85, Grand Saline, born July 5, 1912 Fruitvale, died April 9, 1998 Mesquite Hospital, lived his early years in Edgewood and Fruitvale area, lived in Shreveport, La. for 40 yrs., moved to Grand Saline in 1988, farmer, retired from Commercial National Bank Shreveport in 1977, Master Mason and Shriner, member of Shreveport Lodges, member First Baptist Church of Grand Saline.
He was preceded in death by brother, James Leslie Barrett in 1981. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Willie L. Barrett; sons, Edward Barrett, Jimmie Barrett, and Dr. Gene Barrett; brothers, Nathan "Red" Barrett and Coy Barrett; sister, Maxine James; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
