"Georgie L. Gates, 90, of 417 14th St. E., died Sunday (Sept. 6, 1981) in Bradenton Convalescent Center.

Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Edison Russell officiating. Inurnment will be handled by Shannon Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3200 Manatee Ave. W.

A native of Staunton, Va., Mrs. Gates came to Bradenton in 1913. She was a homemaker, a real daughter member of the Judah P. Benjamin Chapter of the UDS, a widow of Samuel C. Gates, a member of a pioneer family of Manatee County, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Samuel C. Jr., of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Georgie G. Allen of Bradenton; two sisters, Bessie Van Horn of Manassas, Va., and Nola Lanier of Richmond, Va.; and five grandchildren."
