Dr. Henry J. Keene was the son of Samuel Lake Keene (b 1753 Dorchester Co. MD) and Hillary Griffin (who married 13 Dec 1780 in Dorchester Co. MD and died Scott Co. KY in 1806 and 1824, respectively.) Henry J. Keene married Martha Lewis Snell, daughter of Louden Snell (d 1839 Boone Co. MO) and Judith Dicken (d 1841 Boone Co., MO). Louden Snell was son of John Snell Jr. (d 1820 Scott Co., KY) & Nancy Elizabeth Watts; John Snell Jr. was son of John Snell Sr. (d 1786 Orange Co. VA) & Philadelphia Foster of Orange Co. VA. Judith Dicken was daughter of Richard Dicken & Martha Lewis (both d before 1804 Boone Co. KY) of Madison Co. VA and Boone Co. KY; Richard Dicken was son of Capt. Christopher Dicken (d 1778 Culpeper Co. VA) & Sarah Pulliam, dau of Thomas Pulliam (d 1758 Spotsylvania Co. VA) & Winifred Holloday.
