Mitch graduated from Rockwall High School in 1938 and Texas A&M with a bachelors degree in agricultural economics in 1942 and a masters degree in education in 1968. He married Florine Carpenter on June 6, 1947.
Survivors include his children, Lane Heath, Mitchell Brown III, and Thomas Brown, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Silver Lake Baptist Church. Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery.
