This marker is considered to be a cenotaph memorial.

Infant daughter of Homer Call and Nancy Merrell.

She died at four months old & was originally buried at the Willard Pioneer Cemetery.

[NOTE: No burials were made in Willard Precinct Cemetery, formerly named "Willard City Cemetery" prior to its COMPLETION, December 1869].

Afterward, several of her siblings & her mother died & were buried in the family lot at the "new" cemetery, 1/2 mile southeast. Sarah was, according to family lore, removed from the pioneer cemetery & re-interred here on 22 March 1907, to be with the family

This account was taken from family records, but no official record of it exists. There is a belief that only the stone was moved, because of the 43 year span following an infant burial in a wooden container.
