In the Civil War Eleazer was a Confederate Soldier. Eleazer was in a Prison Camp in New York and was released after signing an Oath of Allegiance to the United States after the war ended. But he had to walk home when he was released.
Note from Eleazer's descendant Margaret "Peggy" Humphries Dillard:
Eleazer first married Emeline Byars (d. 1834). They had the two children-an infant who lived one day and Emeline who lived 6 months. (James told me about the first child whose tombstone is not visible-probably covered with silt). Note that Emeline Byars Parker died shortly after the birth of little Emeline.
Then Eleazer married Mary Margaret Carothers and they had 9 children.
The last wife was Ruth Martin, b. January 25, 1855 d. November 2, 1900, They had a son, Thomas Ellie b. June 23, 1885 d. December 20, 1900 and a daughter, Sarah Susannah ("Susie"), b. December 24, 1883 d. January 10, 1926. Susie married a Joseph Littlejohn and they had two daughters. Susie was a high school teacher and she died of appendicitis.
