Vida V. Bailey, 91, of Alpena, died Tuesday, Jan. 20 (2009) at Hillcrest Home in Harrison.

Funeral service was at Alpena Baptist Church with Brother Dean Smith officiating. Visitation was at Christeson Funeral Home. Burial was at Alpena Cemetery. Pallbearers was Scott Widner, Wayne Bailey, Delson Roberts, J.R. Maybee and Buster Widner. Memorials may be made to the Alpena Baptist Church, 203 Hill Street, Harrison, Ark. 72611.

The daughter of David Layfatte and Wrinda Ellen (Paul) Sneed was born Sept. 1, 1917, at Boone County. She was a member of Alpena First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a hard worker. Vida always had a smile and could laugh. She enjoyed gardening and canning and loved flowers. She was a wonderful mother who loved her family and loved to be with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Bailey; her sisters, Mildred Wooten, Mamie Graves, Virgie Ham, Eunice Widner and Joycie Wooten; and her brothers, Raymond Sneed and Arlis Sneed.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Eva and Lloyd Martin of Harrison and Ella Faye and William Widner of Alpena; a son and daughter-in-law, John David and JoAnn Bailey of Bergman; a sister, Pearl Maybee of Alpena; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
