STAFFORD - Irene Blakely, 99, died Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Leisure Homestead, Stafford. Born July 18, 1908 at Preston she was the daughter of Clarence and Itaska Brown Hoffman. She was a 1926 graduate of Preston High School. She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Beeler. She was a member of the Stitch and Chatter Club in the Buda Community, Beeler Methodist Church, was a longtime children's Sunday School teacher at both the Buda Community Church and Beeler Methodist Church, member of the Beeler Methodist Church Board of Trustees and loved her gardening and raising chickens. On October 23, 1928 she married Dwight Blakely. He died January 3, 2002.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2008 at Zenith Community Church with the family presiding. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. There will be a Memorial Service 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Beeler Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Beeler Methodist Church or South Wind Hospice in care of Minnis Chapel, Stafford.
