Ernest A. Barker Dies in Bloomfield
Leader in State Masonic Circles Succumbs After Six Months' Illness
Ernest A. Barker, prominent in New Jersey Masonic circles, died yesterday at his home, 4 Hazelwood road, Bloomfield, after an illness of six months. He was past district deputy of the tenth Masonic district, New Jersey, serving from 1925 until last April.
Born in Munsey, N. Y., sixty-seven years ago, he moved to Bloomfield forty years ago. For many years he was employed as office manager of the Hedden Iron Construction Co. of Bloomfield and Newark, retiring several years ago.
Mr. Barker was master of Bloomfield Lodge, F. and A. M. in 1907, and served as secretary of the lodge nineteen years. He also was a member of Colfax Lodge, I. O. O. F., Paterson, and was past patron of Laurel Chapter, O. E. S., Orange.
Besides his wife, Mr Barker leaves three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Milliken of Huntington, L. I.; Mrs. Rachel H. Robertson of Dumont, and Mrs. V. D. Weller of Riverton, and a son, Ernest A. Jr. of Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be held at the Bloomfield Masonic Temple, Broad and Liberty streets, Bloomfield, tomorrow night at 8:30 o'clock. John R. Rinker, master of the Bloomfield Lodge, F. and A. M., and Rev. Edgar M. Compton of Wesley Methodist Episcopal Church, Belleville, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
