THOMAS O. “SLIM” SPANN
A memorial service for Thomas Oran “Slim” Spann was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs. Graveside services and inurnment was in the Angel of Light Columbarium at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, north of Rock Springs.
Spann, 89, of 1403 Ninth St., Rock Springs, died in Evanston on Wednesday, April 9, 2003.
He was a longtime resident of Rock Springs. Spann was born on April 21, 1913, in Monticello, Ky., the son of Ephraim Morgan and Nancy Elizabeth Lair Spann.
He attended schools in Kentucky.
Spann married Helen MacAfee in Rock Springs in 1957 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 1990.
He was employed by Mountain Fuel Supply Company for 27 years and retired on Feb. 1, 1972.
Survivors include one brother, Rufus Spann and wife Bertha of Lyman; one sister, Violet Lowe of Springfield, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Marion Sisemore of Rock Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Ray, Lawrence, Roy and James Spann; and three sisters, Carna Troxell, Vela Parker and Iva Spann.
The body was cremated.
