ESTEL LAVERN BEED
Estel Lavern Beed, a one time resident of Valentine, was brought to the local hospital about a month ago suffering from an attack of pneumonia and has been in a critical condition since that time. Death claimed him Wednesday, January 11th in spite of every care and attention that could be given him.
Born in Cherry County, September 16th, 1910, he was just twenty-eight years of age. While yet a young man he located at Pollock, South Dakota where he met and married Vivian A. Jadin, January 9th, 1930, to which union four children were born: David Lavoy, James Dean, Virginia Gail, and Thelma Jean. Besides his wife and the children three brothers, Watson E. Beed of Waubay, South Dakota; Lawnie C. Beed of Valentine; and Raymond L. Beed of Herreid, South Dakota, survive to mourn his untimely death.
Estel was an energetic worker, a member of the Methodist Church, was a good provider for his family and applied himself diligently to the welfare of those near and dear to him and his neighbors and friends. Since January 1930 he made his home principally in Valentine where countless fiends mourn his departure.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Methodist Church in Valentine, Friday, January 13th, conducted by REV. O. W. Michel with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Relatives from away attending the Funeral are Mr. and Mrs. Watson Beed of Waubay, South Dakota and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beed of Herreid, South Dakota, and other relatives and friends.

I do not care what men may say,
When on some far and distant day,
I breathe my last.
If there is naught in flowery phrase
Upon that day my name to praise
I do not care.
Life will go on just as before,
It will not pause when from its door
I go my way.
I do not seek reown or fame,
Or titles added to my name,
That matters not.
If I have caused one heart to sing,
If to one soul real joy I bring,
I will be glad.
If I can wipe away one tear,
Or fill one life with hope and cheer,
"Twill be my joy.
If one heart leaps because of me,
If in one face delight I see,
"Twill be enough.
If only this when life doth wane,
At least it will not have been in vain,
"Tis all I ask.
