AMORY - Clester Elaine Gregory, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at the Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory after a sudden illness. She was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Detroit, Ala., to the late Jerome and Clester Elizabeth Eastman Knight. She attended Smithville schools. She lived in Graysville, Ala., for 50 years and in Amory for the past three years. She was a Baptist and enjoyed reading, flower gardening, cooking and her grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Smithville with Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Detroit, Ala. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John W. "Bill" Gregory of Amory, whom she married in 1946; one son, Johnny N. Gregory and his wife, Vicki, of Graysville, Ala.; one daughter, Pam Carter and her husband, Leon, of Amory; one brother, Roger Knight and his wife, Barbara, of the Athens community; three sisters, Gena Lee Gaddy and her husband, Eulas, of Fulton, Alma Faye Summerford and her husband, Eulon, of Smithville, and Linda Joyce Odom and her husband, James, of Amory; four grandchildren, Tammy Wiygul and her husband, Trip, Billy Carter and his wife, Robin, Jason Gregory and his wife, Felicia, and Jamie Huckabee and her husband, Mike; and three great-grandchildren, Brianna Carter, Conner Wiygul and Ruth Gregory. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home in Smithville.
