NOTE: Mr. Padgett was the son of Eidson Padgett and Winnie Hitson. I believe that his death certificate is incorrect in that it shows he died in Frost, Ellis Co., Texas. As far as I can find, there is no community in Ellis Co. named Frost.

A. P. PADGETT DIES IN AVALON RESIDENCE TODAY
A. P. Padgett, 96, a resident of Avalon for 56 years, died at his home there today.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Union Church at Avalon with Rev. Luther Jenkins of Forney and Rev. McClung of Avalon officiating. Burial will be in Hughes cemetery under the direction of the Saxon-Boze-Mitchell funeral home of Italy.

Mr. Padgett was born in 1849, at Batesburg, South Carolina and moved to Avalon in 1900. He was a farmer by trade and was a member of the Methodist Church at Avalon.

Survivors include a son, Shelton Padgett of Avalon; a daughter, Mrs. Effie Berry of Forreston; five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

FINAL RITES FOR A. P. PADGETT HELD SATURDAY
Final rites for A. P. Padgett were conducted Saturday morning at the Union Church at Avalon with Rev. Luther Jenkins of Forney and Rev. L. D. McClung of Avalon officiating. Burial was in Hughes cemetery under the direction of the Saxon-Boze-Mitchell funeral home.

Organist was Mrs. Jack Wakeland with the church choir singing "The Old Rugged Cross," "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and "Shall We Gather at the River."

Pallbearers were Joe Mathers, J. T. Steele, Roy Robinson, Doyle Robinson, Foy Sheppard and E. B. Risenhoover.
