Edward Fletcher Minter, 49, well known Henry county farmer residing near Dyer' Store met almost instant death Friday afternoon when he suffered a fractured neck as the result of a fall from a porch of Dr. J. E. Richardson's hospital. located at Mountain Valley, 15 miles east of Martinsville. Minter had gone to the hospital seeking treatment and was sitting on a pile of wood on the porch of the building, baking in the sun when it was thought he dozed off to sleep, finally toppling off the porch to the ground about 8 fee below. Minter was a lifelong resident of the Dyer's Store community and a son of Silas J. Minter and the late Mrs. Minter, prominent citizen of Henry county. His wife, who before their marriage was Miss Annie Gregory of this county, died about three years ago. Four children, Fletcher, Randolph, Ivy and Lucy Minter survive. His father, four brothers, Owen, Hassie, Harvey and Irvin Minter, and three sisters Mesdames Lewis Byrd, W. J. Donovant and Harry L. Dove also remain. funeral services will be held from the late home Sunday afternoon, with burial to follow int e cemetery at Leatherwood Primitive Baptist church.
