Geneva Haynes was the daughter of Alfred Haynes and Martha Searcy. She loved to raise flowers and make quilts. She married Joe Mills Hemphill in 1903 and they lived in Montford's Cove, then moved to Old Fort. Their house is still occupied at this time (2009) and is in the Oakdale section of Old Fort. She was known as "Aunt Nevie" in my family and my father enjoyed many overnight trips to her house, where her kindness to children made him feel at home.

All of their children cannot be linked at this time due to my lack of knowledge as to their burial places. In order of birth, they are listed here:
Alma Mae Hemphill Cline
Nelle Ella Hemphill Plyler
Laura Pearl Hemphill Fleming
Mary Ruth Hemphill Rogers Jordan
Jo Mills Hemphill Holland
John Bratcher Hemphill
Ralph Robinson Hemphill
