Floyd W. Althizer, 88, died July 27, 1985, at a Bangor hospital (note: St. Joseph's). He was born in Germantown, N.Y., Sept 9, 1896, the son of Frederick and Anna (Proper) Althizer. He was employed by General Electric Corp. in Pittsfield, Mass., for 50 years. After his retirement, he resided in East Millinocket, Bangor and Old Town. He is survived by his wife, Nadia "Papitt" (LaGasse) Althizer of Old Town; two daughters, Catherine Gillette of Bryson City, N.C., and Barbara Hover of Key Largo, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the James G. Dowd Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Jack Brownewell officiating. Burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery.
