Lillian Russell Anthony was born September 5, 1904 in Westmoreland County, Virginia, the daughter of Robert Gustin Anthony and Lettie (English) Anthony.

Lillian married Raphael Newyear Thrift on January 21, 1925 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Lillian became the mother of Ola Rae Thrift and Jane Marie Thrift.

Lillian Anthony Thrift, 99, of Kinsale, died Monday, September 8, 2003. Mrs. Thrift was born September 5, 1905, daughter of the late Robert Gustin "Gus" and Lettie English Anthony. She was the widow of Raphael "Ray" Newyear Thrift, and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a devoted member of Carmel United Methodist Church of Kinsale, where she served in many capacities for 78 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane T. Evans of Kinsale and Ola Rae Nash and her husband, Howard of Callao; seven grandchildren; 12 Great-grandchildren, and six great-great- granddaughters.
Funeral Services were held September 10, at Carmel United Methodist Church, with the Reverand Brant Hays officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth L. Evans, Jr., Raymond W. Bevans, Howard Lynn Nash, Dale R. Nash and Gordon E. Newsome, Jr.
