Clara Allen

"Clara Allen, 94, longtime Arimo area resident, died early Thursday, Jan. 12, at a local health care center following an extended illness.

She was born June 30, 1894 at Robin, to Seth Charles and Clara Capell Glover. Her mother died after giving birth to her, and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Elizabeth Smith Glover. She attended school in Robin.

She married Lewis G. Allen July 14, 1914 in Pocatello. He died Sept. 1, 1961.

She was a member of the Pocatello LDS Fourth Ward Church. She enjoyed being a visiting teacher and was active in the Relief Society as a chairperson for quilting and was involved in the luncheon organization.

She and her husband raised their family near Robin in the Hawkins Basin area. They didn't have the advantages of modern-day conveniences.

She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, needlework and gardening. She also was an avid dancer and was adapt at reciting poetry and readings.

She is survived by two sons, Clayton Allen, Blackfoot; Darrell Allen, McCammon; Mrs. A. H. (Louise) Egan, Arimo; Mrs. Arlene Lusk, Fort Hall; Mrs. Darrel (Claudine) Wharton, Pocatello; a half-brother, Harold Glover, Bountiful, Utah; a half-sister, Margaret Antone, Rupert; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernice Rowe, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Henderson Funeral Chapel, 431 N. 15th, with Bishop William A. Egan (a grandson) of the Garden Creek Ward, Arimo, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Henderson Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Research Development Office, Room 2753, in care of the University of Utah Health Services Center, 50 N. Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84132."
