William Lake Tarpley was the fourth son of Sterling Lake Tarpley and Mary Frances (Frank) Shrader Tarpley. His dad died a few days after William Lake's birth. W. Lake's obituary shows that he worked in Montana for several years. He left Montana when he became ill and came to Quay County, NM, where his mother was living at the time. He entered a sanitarium in El Paso, where he died. W. Lake shares a gravestone with his mother, who died later in the same year. He never married.

William and his mother were both sent back to Frisco, Collin County, Texas to be buried in Bethel Cemetery where many other family members, both Shraders and Tarpleys, are buried.

Note: William 'Lake' Tarpley was the youngest son of Sterling Lake and Mary Frances Shrader Tarpley. He was born only a few days before his dad was accidentally shot and died.
