She was first married to Elution Joy about 1847 in Michigan. They had one child, Franklin Joy, before Elution died at sea. He and his parents are on FAG in Cass County, Michigan.

Died -- Harriet Harvey, Saturday afternoon, Dec. 29, at her home at Leeds Iowa. Mrs. Harvey was born at Mentor, Lake county, Ohio in 1827. The funeral was held at Leeds and the remains brought here for burial Monday. The deceased was formerly a resident of Correctionville, and known as Mrs. Ferry, having married Mr. Harvey after leaving here. Her first husband was buried here, and she now rests beside him.
